Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a hands-on healing modality. The National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) shares “Reiki is a complementary health practice in which practitioners place their hands lightly on or just above the person, with the goal of facilitating the person’s own healing response.”
How often should I come for a rejuvenating Reiki session?
What is a Reiki Share?
An opportunity for novice and experienced Reiki practitioners, alike, to gather and experience Reiki in a group setting where questions and observations are valued.
What’s your best recommendation for releasing emotions and stuck “stuff” between Reiki sessions?
Why does it say I need to wait 6 months between taking Reiki 1 and 2 and becoming a Reiki Master?
What to expect in a Reiki session with Sarah?
Before having a Reiki session, or selecting a Reiki practitioner, it is wise to ask about the experience. Not all Reiki training is the same, nor as thorough. The Reiki practitioner should never diagnose, interfere with a treatment plan from a licensed medical professional, nor touch in a manner that makes you feel uncomfortable—including placement of hands around the neck/chin area.
If this is your first Reiki session with me, I have you complete a brief questionnaire with an acknowledgment about what Reiki is and is not. You’ll lay completely clothed (I encourage loose clothing for maximum comfort) on a padded Reiki table. I like to cover my clients with a sheet or blanket as often our body cools as we relax. I start with a silent prayer, being thankful for the healing and blessings you are about to receive and stating my desire for Reiki to flow and my ego to step aside. I explain that I’ll be asking you to take a couple a deep breathes, and with your permission place my clean hands over your eyes, ears, on the top of your head, back of your head, shoulders (not too close to front of neck), arms, upper abdomen, mid-abdomen, hips, knees, and feet. Additionally, there is a final, silent prayer of blessing. All of this takes close to an hour.

Ready to Make a Change?
I believe there is a deepening need for individuals who want to change their world to practice self-care. This is not a call for selfish indulgence. It is a call to create spaces to intentionally connect with Source. I invite you to consider and act on ways to de-stress, pursue healing, and practice self-care. Reiki is excellent for this! You making a change will change your world!
